Maverick Nica Bluetooth Headset
The $119 (as of 9/24/09) Nica by Maverick Lifestyle has one design aspect in common with the Callpod Dragon V2: Both Bluetooth headsets sport earpieces that look like large buttons. Unlike the Callpod, though, the Nica lacks an earbud portion, so the circular headset sits outside your ear--not wedged in it. In the package, the company includes a slick desk dock/charger, which you plug into a power outlet. Since the headset attaches magnetically to the top of the dock/charger, you don't need to plug a cable into the headset for charging purposes--a nice touch. (For $39, you can opt for the car dock; likewise, the headset attaches magnetically to the car charger.)
Motorola Droid (Verizon) Smartphone
The first time you pick up the Motorola Droid ($200 with a two-year contract from Verizon; price as of 10/28/09), you'll notice its solid feel and heft--there's a lot going on behind the crisp, 3.7-inch touchscreen. Making good use of Android 2.0's new features, the Droid is a powerful Web surfing and communications tool that has a chance of living up to its hype. The Droid's biggest flaw, however, is in its hardware design: The keyboard is shallow and flat, which can make typing uncomfortable.
First Look: Verizon Droid with Google Maps GPS
Motorola and Verizon take the wraps off the Droid -- an Android 2.0 phone that packs impressive features including Google's turn-by-turn GPS service.

Samsung WEP870 Stereo Bluetooth headset
Have you ever heard of the dual-purpose cow? As the name suggests, it gives you both beef and milk. But some folks argue that a dual-purpose cow generally cannot produce outstanding milk and outstanding beef--in other words, a cow should deliver one or the other, not both.
Samsung WEP850 Bluetooth Headset
Lots of Bluetooth headsets these days look like drab sticks or like chunky rectangular strips. At first blush, the $70 (price as of 9/4/09) Samsung WEP850 resembles one of those. But even though it is rectangular in shape, it's glossy, and its shiny coal-like hue and silver accent band (the latter functions as the call button) are pleasing to the eye.
Plantronics Discovery 975 Bluetooth Headset
I don't know about you, but I get particularly grumpy if I have to concentrate when I put on a Bluetooth headset. I have long hair, and I wear eyeglasses--two things that can get in the way of earhook-oriented headsets. That's why I appreciate headsets like the $130 (price as of 9/4/09) Plantronics Discovery 975, which is hook-free and truly plug-and-play.
Nonprofit Overhaul Assists Families of Ill Children
In recent years, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Memphis has experienced its share of technological growing pains. The business staff of ten serves the families of children receiving medical treatment for cancer and other serious illnesses by providing a home away from home while the children receive treatment at the local St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
Review: Wireless docking with Toshiba's newest Dynadock
A wireless docking station that works with any notebook is a nice idea, but the Toshiba Dynadock Wireless U comes with a few major caveats.
How to Manage Users in Windows 7
A computer running Windows 7 might be used by a single person, by a group of people in an office, or by a family in a home. Fortunately, Windows 7 was designed from the ground up to be a multiuser operating system. The new OS is flexible and can support many different scenarios, with each user having appropriate permissions and a customized environment. Every person using Windows 7 must log in with an account, and each account has a personalized desktop, Start menu, documents folder, history, favorites, and other customizations.
